Description
Orang utan, the great apes. Native to the rainforest of Indonesia. Found only in parts of Borneo and Sumatra. Divided into 3 sub species with the latest famous identified as the third subspecies Orang Utan, that is Tapanuli Orang Utan. Orang Utans are The most arboreal of the great apes, they spent most of their times in trees. Their DNA have 97% similarity with the humans. Orang Utan also categorized as the most intelligent primates, they use a variety of sophisticated tools, they also able to construct elaborate sleeping nest and have abilities of learning. They population estimated around 120.000 Orang Utans now. 800 Pongo Tapanuliensis (Orang Utan Tapanuli) are among those 120.000 as the most endangered great apes in the world. Fun fact : An orangutan's birth cycle is only once every 8 years. They also called Orang Utan because "Orang" mean "People" and "Utan" mean "Forest" so Orang Utan is The People of Forest.
